Police officers should not be sorry about the shooting near the Lonmin Platinum mine in Marikana, Rustenburg, which left 34 protesting miners dead, police commissioner Riah Phiyega said, according to a report on Monday.

"Safety of the public is not negotiable. Don't be sorry about what happened," Phiyega was quoted as saying by the Sowetan newspaper.

We lost family members.

Miners works 6 days a week and still earn peanuts.

The police commissioner is right. The police did nothing wrong in performing their duties. There is absolutely nothing to feel sorry about!

I support the police's actions in this incident.
 
Her words that she chose were not very tasteful and she could have said the same thing in a better way thereby not causing a rumpus.
I agree with her but not as she said it.
