In the east of Pretoria, a restaurant robbery did not go as planned for four armed robbers who entered the premises one morning about 1am.
"A wide-awake patron switched the restaurant lights off and in the darkness the suspects fired off about 12 shots.
"The injuries? Only to the robbers themselves."
One of the robbers died from two head wounds and another was wounded in the chest and later arrested.
In another incident, police reacted to a tip-off in Johannesburg about a man dealing in drugs at a particular address.
"On arrival at the house they did not find any sign of drug sales, but the occupant, in his haste to hide his tiny personal stash of dagga, wrapped it up in a copy of his own identity document. Tsk tsk."
Dumbest criminal group could possibly go to the ANC?
Way to ruin the mood, killjoy.....I personally have a problem with our media reporting on the dumbest criminals. It is as if to say or suggest that they shouldn't be dumb but be violent or something. The stories may be funny and all that but I just don't think in South Africa more especially it's right for our journalists reporting on the "dumbest criminals". You can say I don't have a sense of humur, I do actually but not with regards to criminals. 20 000 South Africans die each year at the hands of criminals, and we are not even at war, at least not formally. Instead of reporting on the dumbest criminals, the media should instead report more on criminals getting caught by the police. Many South Africans think the police are totally useless, but we might be surprised what the police accomplish everyday.

Wait ... what?"Eventually our chopper pilot and crew got fed up with this guy's antics, landed on the road and before they could even reach the suspect a member of the public came charging out of his house and rugby-tackled the suspect down to the ground.

Four robbers, who stole a car in Cape Town on Sunday morning, drove straight to Pollsmoor Prison in an attempt to flee from police.
Cape Town law enforcement spokesperson Wayne Dyason said the four men allegedly stole the car in the Hout Bay area.
"They were then chased by police and drove straight to the West Lake entrance of the prison, which is used for visitors and the prison wardens who live on the property. They got out and ran into the grounds of the prison where they were arrested," Dyason said.
and the difference is....?
A 28-year-old drug courier has been jailed in Australia after colliding with two parked police cars in a van filled with methamphetamines.
Simon Tu had 260kg (570lbs) of the drug in the van when he swerved across the road and hit the vehicles in July 2019.
Officers tracked down the van and pulled Tu over, discovering a haul worth up to $130 million Australian dollars (£74m; $95m).
He has now been sentenced to six and a half years behind bars.
