Article: Dynamic TV bids for TopTV

Black consortium Dynamic TV has submitted an alternative business rescue plan for cash-strapped Top TV operator On Digital Media (ODM), the company said on Monday.

Dynamic TV Consortium, led by Given Mkhari of MSG Afrika Media and Malose Kekana of Falk Trading, confirmed it had submitted an alternative plan for ODM's business rescue.

A few more details of this bid would be good to see actually.

If they're going to focus on local content, then it will fail.

Never heard of this outfit. What experience do they have? Multichoice must have some faith in them for handing them a wad of cash to "rescue" TopTV.

It's called eliminating the opposition. If they get taken over by these lot multichoice will have acquired the licence for adult channels without having to endure the bad PR. Their prices will skyrocket and we will simply have Monochoice in another form.

I wonder if they have the money or just want to add a TV station to their portfolio. I predict lots of local content if they succeed which might work if they can compete with the likes of Generations on SABC. Local definitely sells in SA.

Given is a former Metro FM talkshow host. Malose used to run Umsobomvu Youth Fund

Why am I thinking that it won't be a bad idea for Telkom to re-enter the TV market? They made a huge mistake a few years back by ditching their TV division and going for an Into-Africa strategy... Surely they know that data and content will be the biggest revenue drivers in the very near future???

If Telkom creates a Netflix/Hulu like streaming network with Live streaming of Rugby, Cricket and Soccer and other local sports, they might seriously impact the Monochoice monopoly.

Especially if they don't count the local bandwidth towards the end users Cap.

Sports associations don't make as much from streaming as they do from regular TV rights so sports streaming will likely be blocked hard by them. Unless you can offer them at the same prices as TV rights.

Cap? What's that?
