Article: EFF's parliament arrival

It is not fair to say that the DA has nationalization on its agenda
As for nationalism it is a little more nuanced and complex with nationalism being an ideology and sentiment rather than a policy and in terms of supporting - or failing to oppose - ANC policies of a nationalization nature because of certain nationalist sentiments one could probably quite fairly muster a charge: for example if we regard BEE as a form of nationalization* of economic decision making rights then the DA's support albeit qualified and and and ... could be interpreted as such; similarly the DAs policy on mineral wealth and spectrum does include premises that are tantamount to the state acquiring an nationalized interest. Some libertarians would argue that to support tax is support nationalization - and they have a point.

* this is an arguendo statement, I am not arguing the case that it is but the argument can be made if one treats control of a body as property rights which some legal scholars argue they should be or are.

The Da want to speed up land distribution. They want to increase social grants etc. In ideal they stand side by side with the Anc.

My initial point was directed at those who say the Anc and Eff are ideally aligned. You may as well claim the Da and the Eff are aligned then.

You couldn't work out I obviously meant nationalisation ? What a puny imagination you have.

Your repeated use of the term made me think you weren't talking about it. But anyway, how do you figure the DA is all about nationalisation?

As nationalisation rhetoric goes up, jobs will go down

Nationalisation will not eradicate poverty

Nationalisation debate damaging - DA

Shale Gas law is nationalisation by stealth, DA calls it “catastrophic”

Nationalisation bad for SA - DA

Hogwash! ;) :D

I don't other than in the sphere of land distribution. How do you figure the Anc are ?

Land redistribution isn't really nationalisation. They give it back to citizens, it's not kept by the State.

I think the ANC will be under more pressure from the extreme left on this issue. Will be interesting to see how the factions in the party respond to that pressure, whether it'll force the whole party to the left or whether it'll break away.

There isn't anything inherent in nationalization to see the State retain the property. Argentina nationalized and distributed property and frequently during a war property is nationalized from the enemy and distributed if not part of the war effort (the western world was changed with WWII in part because the nationalization extended beyond enemy property).
I wouldn't put the DAs land reform attitude to the level of nationalization and it is a slightly different animal but the charge can be made.

The DA are quite different from the anc. As has been pointed out by others also, the DA do not want to speed up land distribution. The link I pasted almost in full, even makes it clear that the DA wants it to proceed, in a particular manner, at a given proper pace. There may be similarities when talking social grants, since, hey, this country obviously still needs a wide ranging social welfare system.

The anc and eff are "ideally alligned". They both say so. http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/200087-House-of-cards?p=10796351&viewfull=1#post10796351
