Article: FW de Klerk to get pacemaker

Former president FW de Klerk will be admitted to a hospital in Parow, Cape Town on Tuesday, where he will be fitted with a cardiac pacemaker, Beeld reported.

De Klerk confirmed on Monday that he would undergo the procedure and that he expected to be discharged on Wednesday.

There's a joke about the ANC and South Africa's metaphorical colon to be made here.

I'm surprised that flying back was an option. I was always under the impression that if you have certain heart problems (atrial fibrillation and the like or certain types of arrhythmia) that flying is generally a bad idea.
