As much as I dislike that tosser... I will give him credit, he has handled this situation the right way.
 
Five FM can milk this. Now they have a DJ with a criminal record, a tosser with street cred.
 
I wonder how much R10k is going to hurt him? What sort of salary would he be getting?

If you only pay a fine, does it still reflect on your police clearance certificate as a criminal record?
 
Also don't like him, but come on 10K fine!! That's a truck load full.
Modern cars can do that speed with relative safety and perfect handling on a highway. Was there a lot of cars on the highway?

Was he endangering anyone else ? If not I don't see why the big hoopla.
Yeah yeah the law is the law - I know.
I think we need a proper "fast lane" on our highways, something similar to the autobahn in Germany. And all the slow f2cks doing 100 in it should be fined 10k :mad:

After yesterday, I will agree on this one as well.. I got stuck behind someone doing 90 in the fast lane and couldn't get out cos traffic was blitzing past us at 120.. :(

The day you pass the German drivers license is the day I'll allow you to drive at speed on our roads. :)

R15,000 for the license back in 2001

20hrs of mandatory driving instruction
CPR/1st aid
Night driving
Highway driving
Not the K53 BS.


I doubt even 5% of our drivers will pass that. Also, if you've actually been on the autobahn you'll know that it's built for those speeds at sections which allow it.

I remember being on the autobahn once and hearing a warning over the radio that there was a cyclist on the side of the autobahn. A cyclist. Not a donkey, or kids running, or stray animals, or a hitch hiker, or a broken down car, or a herd of cattle crossing, or a taxi stopping to off/on load, or a pothole, or someone on a 50cc scooter in the fast lane ... just a cyclist.

The cars are also in much better condition than ours.

I don't even trust half the cars on our roads at 120kmh. So no, I would NOT want to see them allow an "autobahn type" road rule.

So the problem is horrible drivers, cars not being maintained, and roads being in poor condition, rather than people with proper cars going over speed limits established many many decades ago? Agreed there.

By the way, I wonder what percentage of drivers even pass our driving tests? I heard somewhere that something like half the drivers on the road don't have a license, period. Then there are those who bribe their way through the tests, or do them in those crappy little trucks so they can skip the reverse parking test, etc. etc.
 
I would like to give the German driving test a go, I reckon i could pass it with flying colours xD (haha - maybe im wrong but would love to give it a shot considering ive done bike racing for over 10 years and my reflexes are great in my opinion) Although yea gotta agree with the above post, wouldnt trust half the people driving at their speed or the cars, honestly my car barely does 120 without rattling like mad. Would be nice to have an autobahn but seriously if you want to drive your car fast, go to the race track and see how fast you can go, if its top speed then look for a drag strip or find a runway that you can go and speed in.

On the M5 in Cape Town slow poke drivers do 80km/h in the fast lane. Then I end up doing considerably more than that to go past them in the left lane :( Speed limit is 100km/h in most sections.
