This is one increase I don't mind about. From the millions of people living in Gauteng only a handful bother with the Gautrain. They could double the ticket prices and nobody will protest. As simple as that.
I wish I'd known that last month. We had half a day to kill but it ended up being cheaper to get a day room at the airport city lodge than it would have been to take the missus and kids into the city. The airport price is a bit of a rip-off, if you get off at the station just before the airport (a few 100 metres away), it is only a fraction of the price.

I thought the airport route is priced that way because it is non-stop? And it's a premium service of sorts.

Yeah, they have bigger seats and space for your luggage as well, don't they?
Maybe dodging traffic with kids and their luggage isn't the best idea.Problem is to get to Rhodesfield station, it is very close but you have to cross some highways.
Easily walkable distance from the airport, just not sure whether it is possible to walk to it. From there to Sandton would be just over R20.
