Article: "I was calling for peace": Ramaphosa

ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa said his call for action against striking Lonmin workers in Marikana last year and the subsequent death of 34 mineworkers were not linked.

In an interview with CNN on Tuesday, Ramaphosa said e-mails which emerged during a commission into the shooting, in which he called for "concomitant action" against the "criminal" strikers, were a separate issue.

I was surprised at the outrage over his asking for concomitant action against the strikers.

Some commentators since have said he used the word concomitant in a grammatically incorrect way, but I disagree. My understanding of the word before this incident was that it is an adjective meaning "at the same time". In medicine leaflets I've seen phrases like "concomitant use of" and interpreted from the context that it meant "at the same time". I have since learned its meaning extends to "associated with".

What do you think?

Wtf?! Who in their right mind deduces from Cyril's email that he wanted the cops to kill miners?!

He said many South Africans perceived the ANC in a negative light, and this needed to change..

...

He said he was confident the ANC would win the general election in 2014, with Zuma as its leader.

Openly supporting a criminal as your leader won't do anything to change the negative perceptions Cyril-baby. Come-on, not even you can be that stupid .. get rid of the rot if you want positive light.

Resigned from his political positions in January 1997
In the years since Ramaphosa left ANC politics, he became a businessman and Forbes reports he is worth $675 million dollars

Whats that... R1 000 000 a day for the past 15 years? Not bad.

He lost a lot of face imo because he is now associated with Zuma.
