Article: Iran unveils missile-equipped drones

Iran on Tuesday unveiled a new missile-equipped drone to boost its military arsenal, as part of events marking the end of its 1980-1988 war against Iraq.

Iranian engineers working for the armed forces have "built the drones to carry air defence missiles", deputy defence minister General Amir Hatami said, quoted by Fars news agency.
 
Ya.... colour me skeptical still.

That thing looks like a model, and a tiny bloody model at that as well.
 
This had been reported by IHS some time ago, like in last year. It actually looks suspiciously close to the drones produced by Denel which is sold to Saudi Arabia. Apparently it can carry 2 x AGM-114 (augmented high-explosive anti-tank warheads).

The Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, announced on 14 July that it has a self-produced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) called the Ababil 1.

It said it had developed three different models: the A1A for reconnaissance missions; A1B for offensive missions; and A1C for attacking suicide missions, in which the UAV is used as a loitering munition.

The announcement was accompanied by the release of a video showing what the al-Qassam Brigades said was an A1B in flight.

The aircraft has a boxy fuselage with a high-wing, twin-boom, pusher configuration and fixed, wheeled under-carriage. It carried what appeared to be two improvised rockets under each wing. While it did not appear to be fitted with an electro-optical turret, it had a camera fixed under each boom to film what is in front of the UAV.

That is pure heresay...

All that video proves is that someone can make a video, wrap Islamic stuff around it, put over a sound track with Islamic voices and get a camera into the sky (easily done with commercially available kit) and blow up a random building. There is no evidence of a missile being fired or anything in that video, just that the building blows up.

I'm not saying they don't have it, just that that video doesn't really show anything concrete.

And my initial comment revolves purely around the picture in the original article relating to Iran's drone. They've released images of fake crap before, so I wouldn't put it passed them to do so again.
