Article: Israel bans Apple iPad

Sheesh! Thats one misleading title! Sensationalist to the max!
Should rather read 'Israel bans American standard Apple iPad' or something like that..
Tho its clearly not as sensational as the current one.

Lets put things in context - basically anyone importing ipads into SA is also doing it illegally as they have not been approved by ICASA and won't have the ICASA sticker, so customs SA should also be banning the imports.

work for Core much? why do you want to ban people from importing it at cheaper prices?

dude, **** core, just showing the difference between a country where the customs work as they should. Ipad has WIFI and therefore needs that ICASA sticker. If it doesn't have it, then its not legal to use here, I don't make the rulez so why shoot the messenger?

There was also an iPhone app that came out of Israel that measured the EMR output of the iPhone and found it to be above the accepted level. Needless to say Apple banned that app from their store thingy. I guess this is just payback :p

And on that subject - whats up with having only one Big Brother controlled source of applications for you device?!
Since when can't you just install stuff off the internet or via a PC cable ?

Correct Title : Israel bans devices not compliant with European Wifi Standards.

I bet they've always done this with ANY DEVICE. Misleading and sensationalist article and title :/

I dont get it. Wi-Fi standard does not match Israel's standard so why seize it from the tourists ? Cant you just TELL them that the wi-fi is gonna be problematic, or what am I missing ?

It's all about which frequency ranges are reserved etc.

It's pretty much as legal as starting your own radio stations or transmitting on police frequencies.

Yep, even Xbox controllers have ICASA stickers on them.

I thought this is exactly the type of thing apple user enjoy? Being locked in and totally controlled by a higher power that has full mind control over you ?
