Article: Joburg power outage

A technical fault at one of the transformers at Prospect substation near City Deep resulted in an unplanned outage in Johannesburg on Tuesday morning, City Power said.

"We are experiencing a technical fault at the one of the transformers at the Prospect substation," said spokesman Sol Masolo.
 
So many faults nd failures with our power grid...
 
Don't you okies find it a tad strange that when the power supply is very very tight, in certain suburbs cables suddenly get stolen or a transformer blows up ?
 
Power was out from 17:50 to 22:00 yesterday and went off again at about 05:50 this morning before I left for work.

I call BS. The times above are too perfect to not be planned outages.

Maintenance? What's that? Everything is plug and play nowadays. Then my Chommie can replace it at a ridiculous price and I can get a cut!
 
I honestly think they aren't load shedding currently , what I do think is that the local infrastructure isn't maintained properly so when they do switch off for load shedding they often can't get the grids back up without something blowing
 
Yep, informal polling of my work collegues has confirmed some very "staged" outages all over JHB at very convenient times for load shedding. They are lying, which is what ANC stooges do best it seems.
 
Perfect timing for conspiracies but I have spoken to some folks in the industry that insert fibre in those areas and the story was pretty the infrastructure in those areas for water and electricity is hanging by a threat. So the rain is probably to be blamed. Take it as 2 cents as there is no way I could actually confirm it as true.

Well Eskom was right no load shedding due to maintenance for JHB :p

I call BS too. There are no faults it's all planned. Idiots treating us like kids
