Article: Koeberg reactor went down

Eskom has asked the public to use electricity sparingly after one of its reactors at the Koeberg nuclear plant near Cape Town went down, the Cape Times reported on Friday.

"The power system is extremely tight at present, particularly during the evening peak hours between 6pm and 9pm," the power utility said.

In Summer? What will happen in winter? Or do you Captonians use plenty of air cons?

Reactor goes down and they've still got their siren drill coming up on 27 February as well.

The reactor going down doesn't even phase me anymore

Had a couple of unscheduled blackouts already this summer. This Is Africa.

Eskom running a nuclear power station is much like the ANC running a country. Yeah it happens but you'd better be prepared for a meltdown.

would have been cool if something went boom :(

It's like the end of the world thing, always disapointing... would have been cool if something went boom :(

I'd rather not it goes boom... where will all the vaalies go for their annual holiday excursion then? Peace and quiet on Gauteng's roads during that period. Bliss.
