Malema by being able to proof to Sars that he now has a decent income made this sequestration highly unlikely.With sequestration you only pay 20c in the rand,so Sars didn't have a choice but to accept the offer since Malema's financial situation changes and sequestration was not legally the best option anymore.

Sequestration is normally about personal insolvency, so the original court action was either motivated by SARS in a punitive way or because he genuinely owed more than he had and they wanted to liquidate what they could. Perhaps he has now 'found' the funds needed?
