Article: Man caught driving 234km/h

A 22-year-old man was arrested on the N12 eastbound in Alberton driving 234km/h on Sunday, Ekurhuleni metro police said.

"The driver claimed that he was rushing his younger brother to a soccer practice in Meyersdal," Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said.

Can't see the problem here, that car is safe at those speed.

We get that you might be too uncivilized to understand that roads are a shared resource and you have responsibilities when on the road because there are others using it too. The issue is not the cars capabilities.

Too early for trolling...

Not sure if trolling, or being a complete and utter moron...

Nope nothing wrong with that speed. The only problem is that he is driving on a highway where other idiot drivers are.
And its against the law because we have idiots on our roads.
When I was visiting my uncle in germany, he owns a m5 and he let me take it on the autobahn for a spin and my goodness me i took it up to 255 and it was amazing how nice the ride was. Lots of people average 160~180 on the highway that's the average speed in the "no limit" zones that i could see.

And now lets have a look at deaths caused due to accident in Germany?

Its more about the intelligence of the people driving then the speed limit. Speed does not kill stupidity does. And that means if there are stupid people on the road, even if you are clever and drive fast. You can't account to what the stupid people will do.

The specifications of the roads in Germany are infinitely higher than SA (or any other country in the world) can or want to afford. This does not mean road surface quality only, but also includes number of lanes, alignment, visibility, signage, spacing of on- and off ramps, etc.
Germany has autobahns, therefore we are stupid is an idiot argument.

A 25-year-old in a Ford was caught driving at 173km/h.

The man said he was rushing to help a friend who had been arrested for drunk driving.

A second man in a Mini Cooper was arrested when he was caught driving 166km/h.

"[He] claimed he was testing the power of his newly acquired toy," Kgasago said

:wtf:

Lolol I wish I was a metro cop just to hear all the funny excuses people come up with!
