Human Settlements Minister Tokyo Sexwale has called for serious global talks on climate change. The minister believes the upcoming and critical COP 17 talks in Durban should yield better results compared with the previous Kyoto Protocol Agreement and Copenhagen climate change conference.

Is the Minister going to showcase our own blundering civil defence efforts? A working civil defence plan for SA is not an option. The commando’s have been disbanded and they would have been integral to any SA plan involving natural catastrophes (climate change), bush fires, floods, earth quakes, etc. A large body of men who didn’t wimp-out easily and could be activated locally at a moments notice. With the appropriate infrastructure (ambulances, hospitals, etc.) and command structure? No, this would be a threat to ANC hegemony. Rather disband them and talk crap and make excuses when something does happen.

Well, Global Warming been around for a long time now and eventually they wake up to it????? Typical Goverment/ANC, and its probably because they found a new way to drain funds from us through this issue.

Actually I suspect they are well aware of the implications, but they are heavily invested in fossil fuels. They have the mindset of American Republican WASPs playing golf with their WASP cronies, all invested heavily in oil, and plotting ways to pooh-pooh any idea that climate change is related to fossil fuels so that they can make money on their oil investments. Once they have unloaded their investments, they assume the moral high ground, start believing in climate change and piously support ‘green’ alternatives.
