Article: New fraud-proof Matric certificates

Matric certificates will be printed on a new paper to prevent fraud and counterfeiting, Umalusi said on Wednesday.

The 2012 National Senior Certificates would be issued with the new features, Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training spokesman Lucky Ditaunyane said.

Most places just ask for a copy of your certificates not the real one.

I'm not seeing any features in the article that are not relatively easy to duplicate...

WTF, what's wrong with a mobi site/web site where you can type in an ID number and see the matric results as stored in a central, fraudproof repository?

Exactly.
The US Federal Bank even admitted that the $100 supernotes produced in China are astonishingly good.

Yes, but the US Reserve Bank can still tell that they are fake.
It's just that to the public's eye, they appear identical.
There are security features hidden in there, that you and I don't know about.
They have software that can scan the bill and performs an algorithm based on ALL the features and validates it or not.

Isnt that all you need though? To just get someone to accept the note as legal tender as you trade.

yes you are right, but technically they cannot be said to be identical or "copied" 100%.

There would be a lot less fraud if people knew what to look for.

Problem, people are too trusting.

Who cares though? The whole matric system is a big fraud in itself. A matric certificate doesn't mean anything anymore, not when you only need 30% to pass and the government is making the curriculum so easy that any moron can pass it.

To my mind anyone who manages to get through the first year of a higher learning facility on a fraudulent matric certificate, deserves to stay on ability alone.
