Article: Non-halaal KFC employee return to work

A man who was dismissed from an Empangeni KFC outlet after taking non-halaal food to work will be reinstated on Monday, according to a report.

The Star reported that the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) had ruled that Jabulani Cele should return to work.
 
Religion finds the most amazing ways to screw up a persons life. Good call from the CCMA.
 
Thats discrimination and I say that as a muslim. Some people give Islam a bad name , Islam does not discriminate and allows freedom of religion. Some peeps just abuse religion with their warped interpretations.

Its got to do with cross contamination more than a halaal issue.
If the beans curry found its way to mash and gravy KFC would be in trouble.

But hey spin it with a halaal issue lol...

Wow, did not know you were intimately involved with this case and new more about the story. The article clearly states:

So tell us where you got your, "Its got to do with cross contamination more than a halaal issue.". I think you pulled that out your ass, but perhaps I am wrong and you are directly involved in this case that you can provide us with more information.

Its the same at any restaurant, even at Spur, you bring your own food you into the kitchen you will be fired, halal Spur or not.

Strange, when I was a waiter at Spur a long time ago, they never had that rule. Could you show exactly where you are getting that from. I still think you are making stuff up as you go along.
 
I worked at a Spur and a Chicken/Pizza Perfect, my wife was a waitress at a few restaurants in her youth, none of them had that policy, unless it's drastically changed in 10 years.

True, I also worked at Spur as a waiter and brought food in sometimes and would get away with it, but another colleague brought a "smelly" curry once, used the microwave in the kitchen and was relieved of his duties immediately.

Uhuh. Sure.
 
I can see their point about food contamination, but then, its not nice to force your employees to eat what you provide them. If they are that concerned about contamination, they need to provide a staff room of sorts, where employees can eat their food and then immediately wash their hands.

What if the man was vegetarian?

Or if a Hindu man worked at spur - would they force him to eat beef?
 
Does the Restaurant provide lunches for the staff? If they do provide lunches for the staff, then I can understand this.
But to prevent a person from bringing their lunch to work otherwise is just asking for trouble.
How is the guy supposed to go the whole day without food?
And if you don't want it inside the restaurant, then it is your duty to provide them with a separate kitchen and fridge where they can store it and eat it.
 
If I worked at KFC I wouldn't want to eat their chicken everyday. Freedom of ingestion in the work place! He can eat outside.
