Article: Nudist beach Sandy Bay losing sand

Cape Town's nudist beach Sandy Bay is being stripped bare of sand, The Sunday Times reported.

"Due to extensive urbanisation and development in Hout Bay, the historical sand-transport system has been irrevocably changed," Garreth Bloor, the city mayoral committee member for economic, environmental and spatial planning told the newspaper.

"As a result Sandy Bay will have less sand, which is evident in photographs from the 1930s."
 
They'll have to go somewhere else. A friend went there a few years back and got his private parts badly sun-burned, as they were unused to the direct sun
 
I didn't inspect it closely, but he was in bandages and ointment for 10 days

Urbanisation messing it up for naked people since 1930. We all know how much naked people like sand.
 
there is really nothing awesome about sandybay.... a bunch of old fruits.
 
In the winter the beaches along this piece of coast are scoured of their sand - Clifton 1st being a good example. The sand is redeposited once the heavy South Easters start up again.
 
I all seriousness, there must be some better planning around urbanisation in CT. You can't just build suburbs wherever there's space. One can clearly see how no environmental planning went into those building developments, screwing up an entire ecosystem.
 
So the wind used to blow sand down the channel from Hout Bay to Sandy Bay?
So blocking it with development would mean less at Sandy Bay and more at Hout Bat?

But it doesn't really look like there is more at Hout Bay? Actually looks to be less!
