Article: Petrol price changes

The price of octane 93 petrol will increase by two cents a litre next week and octane 95 petrol will decrease by five cents, the energy department said on Friday.

The price of diesel would decrease by 13 cents a litre, and that of illuminating paraffin wholesale by 14 cents a litre.

Does happy dance.. more Diesel price decrease.. and it goes below R13 a litre of me.....

Dance all you can, next month we are going to be in for a shocker.

All depends on the price of crude and the ZAR/USD exchange rate..

You lot can get all conspiracy theorist about it, but the algorithm used to calculate the petrol price is in the public domain and the variables used are in the public domain as well.

Mods please link to "Pastor has congregation drinking petrol"

My car recently has been guzzling petrol like STS in a Nigerian pastors church. Good news that it will below R13 soon.

Its all rigged :)

ISIS has been selling oil at between 25 and 50 dollars a barrel, as opposed to the market price of over 100 dollars a barrel.
The point being, if they can turn a profit at those prices, then something stinks with oil pricing. ;)

How the heck does 95 go down while 93 goes up? Aren't they made from the same stuff?

But they have stolen / taken over refineries, so they didn't have any capital investment...

Could be that the demand for 93 is higher. Transportation costs can also play a role.
Who knows, maybe they are including an E-Toll tax on you. ;)

If it is affected by demand, I have to say screw them, but AFAIk demand isn't factored into the calculation? Transportation costs should be the same for 95 and 93?

Isn't 93 dirtier than 95 as in more impurities?

I think this price difference is more related to the "slate levy" than anything else
