Newly appointed national police commissioner Gen Riah Phiyega has halted interviews for major-generals to command crime intelligence operations in six provinces, The Star reported on Thursday.

Maj-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi confirmed to the paper that the interviews had been cancelled on Phiyega's instruction.
