Article: Pistorius sleeping on the floor: report

The holding cells at the Brooklyn police station in Pretoria where murder accused paralympian Oscar Pistorius is being held have no beds, Beeld reported on Thursday.

Pistorius is therefore sleeping on the floor, presumably on bedding supplied by his family, and sometimes has to share his cell with other detainees.

Why does this seem to be such a huge problem all of a sudden? Suddenly people are complaining about the treatment he is receiving and feeling sorry for him, claiming that jails need to upgrade their facilities... I thought the whole purpose of Jail is to be a wake up call and make you think about what your impulsive actions has gotten you into instead of being a comfort zone? I'm not saying he is guilty (of murdering his girlfriend that is) but he did take a life, so why should he be treated differently in jail?

Cells in police stations never have beds. They are "holding cells" - if he wanted a bed he could go to prison which does have beds.

Why is this news?

Yup, no beds, I can confirm. In one, me and the other person didn't even have room to lie down; just about enough place to stand side by side. As I remember, that didn't make the news though.

My heart beats lumpy fscking custard for you, Oscar.

Sleep on a bed of quad-bladed razors for all I care...

He is lucky he is not in prison. If it was not Oscar and Reeva, and someone totally random, they would be in jail. Wtf, he has bedding from his family!! He brought this on himself. Are we now supposed to feel sorry for him?
