Police management will examine the SAPS's performance during a two-day meeting that starts in Boksburg on Friday.

"This two-day meeting will amongst others, examine and audit our all-round performance of the SAPS," the police ministry said in a statement.

That's fine and all, but what are they actually going to do about it?

Given that corruption, etc. are as the result of bad management: who will be reviewing the performance of the management ?

There will just be a lot of back-slapping and joke-telling, and they will end the day with some drinks and feel like they have solved all the problems of the nation.

Meanwhile not a single thing will change on the ground.

The corrupt cops will get more corrupt.
Some cops who were not corrupt will turn corrupt out of frustration with the lack of training and oversight.
And the good cops will continue to struggle and feel overwhelmed on a daily basis, many of them are close to cracking.
