Article: R450,000 ruling in pothole case

The Umngeni (Howick) municipality must pay R450,000 to a woman seriously injured when a pothole caused her car tyre to blow and the vehicle plunged down an embankment.

KwaZulu-Natal Judge President Chiman Patel endorsed this consent order in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Wednesday.

No, the rate/tax payers will just keep on paying for the legal fees... It's not their money so they don't give a fsck, they should start holding them responsible in their personal capacity.

Why would I care about being taken to court when its not really me being taken to court, and I don't even pay from my pocket? In fact, if you take me to court, then technically you are paying for us both LOL.
 
is that all? I would have sued for millions. what if she had died due to their negligence in not maintaining the roads properly.
 
The payback comes when the local authority has paid out all the claims and there is nothing left for service delivery. Then the mob goes and burns down the councillors' houses.

With no one left to make a noise it would just die with the victim and add a +1 to the fatal accidents stats
