Article: Reitz Four guilty

Kinda hard to find them not guilty when they enter a guilty plea... but yeah... I'm glad.

Hopefully this kinda racist crap can die out quickly.
 
We were all young and all did stupid things , unfortunately for these guys this made headlines and attracted all sorts of flies wanting a piece of the pie. The victims dont want justice they want money and their lawyers want money, if they wanted justice they would pissed in a cup and made the four drink it.
 
I admit I did not see the humiliating part and did day so on here. But if they admit it, it is true. I hope they get the punishment they deserve.
Or did they plea to get the case over? It’s not like they are not going to be recognised anywhere guilty plea or not.

Why is it when people commit white crimes (in opposition to murder and stabbing) everyone tries to make millionairs from then, but when the real crimes happend that cause years of medical and psychology expenses, no one bargain the goverment for R1mil compensation?? And I promise you that if the rapists were caught, they will not have to pay R1mil to their victims?

I do feel that the victums of a crime should get compensation for their lost (in this case of humanity) but why is it that people don't battle such a effort for murder?

You can sue the government and the criminal if you want. There's no law stopping you seeking compensation after the criminal case. If the state (police/judiciary/government) were negligent they will be found liable and you will be awarded compensation. People successfully sue this government all the time.

On the other hand good luck with suing a common criminal for R1m.
 
So will all victims of similar types of initiations have the right to sue the student body / persons involved?

Yes... you can sue anyone for anything even your parents for giving birth to you. Whether or not the courts through your case out for being frivolous is a different matter (excuse the pun) all together.

So it boils down to: If you are the victim of any crime by a rich man, you have a change to become a millionaire, on the other side if a poor man commited the crime, you are lost. With the exception if you are rich and you can sue the goverment for more millions to add to your current batch.

The workers surely don't have the money to sue the Reitz guys. So someone is paying for it... the government? But I don't see any other (common) crimes making millionairs out of their victims (With the government sueing themselves for the money, since the ciminal and you are poor, the government represent both financially).

Basically yes... The Reitz workers have their civil case at the Equality Court where the state is representing them. As you can clearly see the perpetrators are using the best lawyer available in this country so it's only fair that they get assistance. Kemp J Kemp is as SC as you get and probably advised them to plead guilty on the lesser charge of crimen injuria and they will likely get off on probation or a warning, no chance of jail time there.

Thanks for clearing this. I have no knowledge of the justice system, other than criminals gets arested and sometimes end up in jail. I only can look uppon the outcome and see that some victims are wors off after the crime while others are not. And my personal opinion is that the government should also distribute compensation for victims in the way they distribute salaries with taxation.

For everyone else, the workers has not yet received the R1mil is just a "request" not yet granted or a guarantee. (Not sure what the exact terminology is)

More like a demand and it's up to the courts to decide if this is justified. Refer to OJ Simpson winning the criminal case but getting nailed in the civil case for a few million $ which he'll probably never pay cause he pled poverty and his NFL pension couldn't be touched. The civil case is easier to prove as circumstantial evidence is readily accepted and no beyond reasonable doubt.

I doubt they'll get a million each though. South Africa's courts have stricter requirements in justifying amounts due for suffering.
