Article: SA goes for flag world record

All of you idiots, go read a ****ing book.

And while they are at it maybe they could piss off out of a thread which is trying to spread, or more accurately maintain, the good will felt during the world cup! But no these idiots would rather bring everyone down! They fsking piss on everyone's parade.

Why characterise it as the last 16? Why not the last 25? Or is anything bad mutually exclusive to the ANC and not the repressive regime that stagnated the economy before the ANC got in?

All of you idiots, go read a ****ing book.

While the apartheid regime was nasty towards the blacks, it did a good job of the economy under those conditions - sanctions and two wars (internal and one in Namibia/Angola). The infrastructure created by the apartheid regime allowed the post apartheid regime to continue to 'deliver' to its electorate with minimum input of new hospitals, power stations, roads, rail links, airports, bridges, dams, harbours, etc. In the present state with upcoming press censorship and with a legacy of crumbling infrastructure as well as comrade enrichment, SA will be worse off than under than Nats in many regards - depending on who you are - but even the blacks will end up suffering.

Don't worry with the upcoming press censorship, you'll soon get your wish. The new SA Pravda will only post positive stories of how our giant footballs and flags are standing up to western and racist aggression.

The reason why South Africa differnciated from other African countries is because of all the infrastucture built, that's why I referred to as the "last 25"

All the Nats did was hold a fixed to a managed float and rode the gold price spike of the 1970's that gave us huge reserves, enough to pull through sanctions and more. From the 1980's onwards, the sanctions were felt, our economy stagnated and went into recessions often. We kept having to devalue the currency as well that was already artificially high. Our inflation was worse than it is now.
By the end of the 1980's and early 1990's, our exports were still not diversified, only focusing on minerals and foreign investment was at a minimum. Only after the ANC got in did we diversify exports, stabilise inflation and heavily increase service sector markets, floated our exchange rate and increased investment (the last being mostly by Mbeki).

Looks like someones mommy didn't give them nookie last night  please go spin your nonsense somewhere else kthanbai

Just walked 6kms with SA rugby flag and SA flag and every car that went passed hooted and cheered :D it was awesome!

The Nats were under immense pressure - we had sanctions and constant wars, didn't we? But considering the inflation and the stagnation, they managed to build huge amounts of investment - as mentioned - factories in Atlantis, Cape Town for example which employed 1000s of people and which served to provide engines to SA military vehicles as well as ordinary trucks and tractors. When sanctions were lifted, SA opened up but SA is still restricting the flow of capital - the SARB curtails how much cash you can take out of the country and with upcoming Soviet Style anti-Western press censorhip and constant corruption and incompetence how can you say that anything but the free enterprise / independent sector of this country is responsible for keeping us afloat?

SA currently has no sanctions against it, fights no wars and enjoys WTO and favorable deals with China, EU and many other partners. Despite this, we are suffering because we are inefficient - the only sector which is efficient is the private one, while the government and trade unions do their best to destroy this golden goose. SA was also able to take advantage of the various crises - from the Asian one to the US Housing one/current economic crisis because we mine and export platinun/gold and did not have so much bad debt.

I fail to understand what's this got to do with someone urging people to wave their flags at a sporting event...
