The South African media is still being controlled by a white minority who have been in power since apartheid, the United Democratic Movement (UDM) said on Tuesday.
"One cannot shy away from the fact that the South African media is still heavily influenced by those who had been given power during apartheid," UDM leader Bantu Holomisa said during a presentation to the Press Freedom Commission's (PFC) public hearings in Johannesburg.

He's just talking the typical cack as usual. The media that was given power during apartheid is basically the SABC which became a government tool. And that is definitely not controlled by white people today, not that it matters.

If you group the SABC together with the black controlled press then it is fair to say that the majority of the press is black controlled.

To give you an idea... there are 5 major newspaper/media groups in SA
IOL (owned internationally by Independent News & Media) so ok, I'll give you the colonialist blah blah BS on that one....
Media24 (aka Naspers) so yes, big afrikaaner supporting company...
Avusa (formelly Johnnic) which is black owned
Caxton which seems to be owned by Avusa and a few other companies so is relatively neutral.
SABC which is owned by the guavamint, has the biggest viewership.. so is black and outweighs ALL the others put to gether in terms of reach and influence.
IOL (owned internationally by Independent News & Media) so ok, I'll give you the colonialist blah blah BS on that one....

Isn't he that Dude that made himself president of a Former Apartheid Era "African Homeland" - Transkei (which was created by the Apartheid Government), and then years later joined up another former National Party Member Roelf Meyer to found the UDM?
