Article: Solidarity calls for moratorium on affirmative action

Trade union Solidarity today called on the government to impose a moratorium on the implementation of affirmative action in order to prevent the public service from losing expertise. This came after the Auditor-General's performance audit found that state departments had spent billions of rands on consultants.

Ya well. Everyone with more than 2 brain cells to rub together can see the far reaching implications of AA in its current form. Shoving people with no expertise or experience into a field is bad enough, but they end up with people that don't work for their job because it was handed to them.

Solidarity can try, but the only people that have enough brain cells to understand the implications are the choir to whom they preach.

So you're okay with them firing all the experienced staff, then hiring them back as consultants at a cost of R33 Billion - while those who were given their jobs get paid for doing bugger all ?

He doesn't pay taxes anyway, so he probably doesn't give a rats ass.

It's got nothing to do with AA people are just hiring their friends, families or rewarding various cronies. Even some of the consultants are just friends of people in government.

Indeed, I am ok with just that :D We all see and know what so called "Affirmative Action" does to South Africa. I have always said that AA is not good for the county. On second thoughts though, I and my family comes first. My contract just got extended, so I am not going to complain. Working as a consultant is more demanding then one might think. Your work is never recognised as yours and most times, you have to put up with total loosers. You ALWAYS have to be very carefull what you say. And basically NEVER say what you really think. But if you play the game right you'll make nice money. If you think AA only helps blacks, you are wrong!

it has got everything to do with the unintended consequences of AA (wherever applied in the world). The exact result yields.
