Article: Stats SA officials refuse to fix census errors

Two senior Stats SA officials are facing disciplinary action for allegedly refusing to correct errors in the census, City Press reported on Sunday.

A deputy director at Stats SA, Jairo Arrow, and a senior statistician, Marlize Pistorius, had apparently made mistakes that would have provided wrong figures of the census by province, as well as an incorrect national figure.
 
And people wonder why some of us don't believe anything that comes out of StatsSA. Its pretty much the norm that they've made errors, and try to cover them up.

Where's that thread from last year where certain members (IIRC Clint and others) were casting doubt on those who found the Stats SA figures dubious? Going to be eating humble pie! :D
 
Chinese stats are also supposedly corrupt. And people use them to boast how China will become the only superpower. We'll see.
 
Mathematics and stats go hand in hand. Out of interest, are we sure these guys aren't recent matrics. After all our maths stats sucks
 
People, the issue goes much much deeper then the reported "errors" and the "numberfixing"! Read my previous post regarding census 2011. Unfortunately I can't find it on my opera mini but I will point it out when I get to use a proper computer. That post is roughly 8 or 9 months old and that time I did not want to disclose certain things, hopping the issue will sort itself out and sanity will prevail. I was wrong! Now that the proverbial popo hit the fan, I guess people can talk openly about it. The ones affected are either out or on the way out. sad but true. In the new South Africa, census 2011 had 2 goals in mind: Count the people of South Africa AND boost the ANC's image. Some senior/old white man mistakenly thaught the census had only one goal in mind - now they see they were wrong WTF

Correct infrastructrural stats are impossible to collect in this country ...

... which is why the manipulation of state money is so easy to do. With the ANC internal measures in place, a monkey can do whatever it likes under the ANC regime, and get away with it (like they do).

That is the problem. There is no mention of this at all, so most of us are left to assume that the released stats are wrong.

One of the point ANC wants you to believe is: The white population in South Africa is not decreasing but actually has slightly increased lately ! Of course utter nonsense. For that to happen white girls must have on average almost 2 x as many children as black girls do. The original "wrong" census put the whites at just over 4 million and the blacks at 8 million more then the "corrected" figures show :D For obvious reasons the ANC does not want lots of blacks in the country. On the other hand it paints them in a bad light if the figures show how small the white population has really become. Apparently it was a huge fight regarding the colored population been much higher then white. Originally the corrected stats should have shown that the whites are still marginally more then colored but even for the ANC the discrepancy pill was to big to swallow and have agreed to put the whites just below the colored. Not by much though. WTF this census could have just as well been decided around the table. How sad.

Yeah sheesh, as a non-South African he is quite opinionated on the matter. Stats are stats, that's all they'll never be a true reflection just a yard stick.

Of course I will never expect you to believe me. As soon as I arrive home I will post a link to my previous comment regarding the South African census and the problem it encountered. I am sure even you will wonder how did I knew all this so many months ago. I am sorry that things in South Africa are not what they should be but I won't keep quiet. I have quite a bit more info regarding the issue and yes it will be made public regardles what the ANC supporters think. The public Harva right to know.

This link you will post will explain the drivel you posted above? Unlike you, I don't suffer confirmation bias. You would happily believe stats that confirm your prejudices and question those that contradict your beliefs like most here.
