Article: Textbook saga a gov failure: ANC

The ANC's national executive committee (NEC) has acknowledged that the late delivery of textbooks in Limpopo was a "serious failure" by government, the party's secretary general Gwede Mantashe said on Monday.

"The NEC... considered the lack of delivery of books in Limpopo as shocking and unacceptable and believes that whosoever is found to be responsible must face stern action that may include criminal charges," Mantashe told reporters in Johannesburg.

Surely the Buck must stop with Angie baby?

Guess she had better get used to not running around in 2 x 1 million rondt BMW's....

I heard on the radio that apart from not ordering or planing they didn't have the money for the amount of books needed anyhow.

I think this is going to open a whole can of worms which would include self enrichment, fraud, money wastage and of course mismanagement

I hope they do a proper investigation.

Another reason why NOT to vote for ANC. I still do not know why people still vote for ANC.........Must be from all the free groceries they give out to people weeks before the general elections.

Sadly I believe that you are almost correct... or at least on the right track. Supporters are lied to and treated to a rally weeks before elections and once elections are done, they are thrown aside and forgotten for the next four years. It's really pathetic that the current ruling party does this to the people who put them into power election after election with the hopes that things will get better for them.

I can assure you that the poor man/woman voting for the ANC isn't doing it with the knowledge that you and I have been fortunate enough to acquire.

Sure, but Angie can pay for TWO Million plus bloody BMW's - they must try pulling the other one.

You would be surprised at what some people in the rural areas know. I once met this guy that lived in a 1 room shack. Hardly had space to move in his place. Didn't have water, electricity.....was near election time. He said ANC representatives came a few daus ago and said they would be putting electricity in for free......I asked him so who is he going to vote for......he said they said that to him 4 years ago.....so he isn't voting anymore.

Some do realise, however the thing is they don't want to vote for another party.

Those supporters are idiots and get exactly what they deserve. I don't think we should be shocked about it - it has been the way since long before the Portuguese even built their first ship.

In the bad old days, the National Party used to have rallies and there was a big braai, you could stuff yourself full. The intention was to make the whities vote Nat of course.

Yet, somehow, you could still eat a koeksuster and still vote UP or HNP if you were so inclined.

"The ANC acknowledges that many of the problems at local government level have to do with political tensions within the ANC and the alliance."

So the kids have to stay dumb 'cos the grownups are fighting? Not too clever a strategy if you ask me.
