Article: Thabo Mbeki warns Zimbabwe

Former president Thabo Mbeki has warned Zimbabwe's "predatory elite" to stop benefiting from the country's diamonds, Business Day reported on Tuesday.

"Diamond production must not be governed by a predatory elite which is in collusion with mining companies for its own benefit," said Mbeki.
 
Wait a minute, does he not have shares in the diamond mines there? I remember something about him having some involvement there.
So its ok for him to comment now? What a turd

Why can't he have shares there. Are you or anyone else ever disclosing shares when making remarks about anyone?


The Associated Press reported on Monday that at least US2 billion worth of diamonds had been stolen from Zimbabwe's eastern diamond fields and enriched President Robert Mugabe's ruling circle, gem dealers and criminals.

I think this will be a concern to any Zimbabwean, and to any shareholder....unless you are pro Mugabe

Excuse me? I am not a public figure and ex president that royally screwed up by not intervening in Zim. He is partaking in business that is fueling Mugabe and his corrupt gvt. :rolleyes:
 
Saw the report on tv last night (diamonds from Zim). Can't believe SA supports that Zim can export it (after all the crap zim does). But I think SA goverment wants to be like Zim. So they can do like they please (get rich), and fck the rest.
 
If bob can massacre his own people what is stealing a few billion dollars worth of diamonds to him .

Why should SA intervene in Zim at all, other than closing the borders?

AFAIK, his brother has the same modus operandi. He has some BEE shares in a company or 2 as well, yet he critices the concept.

SA wanted the embargo lifted because Zim people are suffering (something in that line). Might be wrong.. I watched with a 1/2 eye. USA still have embargo on diamonds from Zim yada...

But yea.. Close the gates to SA from them.
