Article: Too much coffee causes nervousness and irritability

Interesting tidbit, you'll find that a number of medications list as a potential side effect "headaches".

The primary reason for this is when the drugs undergo human trials, the people testing the drugs are told not to take any caffeine such as coffee so as not to skew results etc. (more controlled conditions), however most people are addicted to caffeine in some form or another, so lots of the participants in the trials say they had headaches, which is primarily due to them NOT having their fix, rather than the meds.

Interesting no?

The placebo arm of the trial would be subjected to identical conditions as the active arm. Frequency of side-effects is usually measured relative to the placebo arm.

Not to be a douche, but since being diagnosed in 2005 for Schizophrenia I've had explicit advise from my doctors to stay away from caffeine. It's not something new and this nutritionist didn't have any real break through.

Coffee is a stimulant and an accelerator of my agitation, frustration and irritability. Drinking 2 or 3 cups a day doesn't harm me, but downing a 2L coke or cups of coffee after the other makes tera a dull boy.

Paradoxically coffee drinkers have lower suicide rates but higher Hamilton depression scores compared to people who do not drink coffee. The reason is that caffeine promotes sleep disturbances, irritability and anxiety, symptoms which are tested on the Hamilton depression test.

Irritability aside, if I don't get coffee soon I might just fall asleep. :-(

I'm also puzzled at this purporting to be news.
I'm over a half century old and we've known about this since before my parents were born..or possibly my grandparents.

I'm a trifle irritated with all the 'science' that comes up with stuff like "dogs use different barks for different meanings."
Really?

Gosh, where are you getting your funding from?

+1. Besides nervousness and irritability, if I drink coffee after a certain time it increases my chances of insomnia greatly I've always known this. I know a guy who drinks coffee all day until bedtime and never sleeps. I tell him its the coffee and gives me a sceptical look. Caffeine is a stimulant morons. Why don't you know this?

You will see a lot of research papers with such useless drivel, to keep getting grants you need to churn out a report every so often, so when nothing new or ground breaking emerges they just slap something silly together.
