Article: Tshwane tariff increase

Municipal tariff increases for Tshwane residents came into effect at the beginning of July, the City of Tshwane said on Wednesday.

As a result, residents' monthly bills would be higher than in previous months, spokeswoman Nomasonto Ndlovu said in a statement.

And a good start to the new financial year. 25% tariff increase in refuse removal, and the refuse truck broke down in the next street and as a result our refuse was not collected.

Does not bode well for the coming year.

People's salaries are not increasing 10+% per annum after tax so these annual increases cannot be sustained in the long term.
The municipalities in South Africa can expect an increase in bad debt.

Once solar is cheap enough I'll drill a borehole in my back yard, install solar power and go totally off-grid.
Then the municipality can cut off my water and electricity and I'll just laugh in the faces of the over paid Tshwane mayor and his cronies.

You will get taxed one way or the other. Only solution is new government.

Is this the same place that's ordering thousands of tablets, many of which aren't made anymore?
