Article: Two tons of dagga seized

Nearly two tons of dagga were seized by KwaZulu-Natal police in April in operations conducted on the South Africa-Lesotho border, police said on Thursday.

The 1890kg of dagga, worth an estimated R3.8 million, was seized from donkey trains travelling over the Ntonjelane Pass between South Africa and Lesotho, said Colonel Vincent Mdunge.
 
R2 per gram, maybe that is what the smugglers were getting paid. Street value is at least 10 times that.

Hold on I had a thought.

If the street price is R20/gram (Which means it is real junk) that makes the shipments they caught in just April worth R38 million. If it were sold from a store, lets call it a dispensary, and they had VAT of 14% Government could have generated R5,3 million just from Aprils siezed amount. Lob on an extra 20% Green Tax and the number becomes R12,9 million. Imagine the Nkandla's they could build with the real amount of revenue.

I hear you saying "what about the woman and children that get raped and stabbed and and and", no no my dear friend, Dagga is the main culprit of all the ills of society...

Good job SAPS, that's what we need, less kids getting baked at home and playing x-box/ps3, we can do with some more street gangs and violence.
 
How is this an achievement? Weed is being legalised all over the world... report on real crimes please.

ok - so how much of it end up back on the streets after it went "missing" from police holdings?
and how much do the cops make from the bust ?
