Article: Water quality concerns at Loskop Dam

Although there are low levels of Escherichia coli, known as E. coli in Loskop Dam, the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has warned that water quality in the dam is deteriorating fast.

A two-year study of the quality of irrigation water from Loskop Dam and its effect on crop production in the Groblersdal area has shown low levels of E. coli and no detectable levels of other disease-causing bacteria.
 
I was at a place just downstream from the dam a couple of weeks ago. A guy who works at the lodge there told me that there are no hippos in the dam anymore and that the croc population has been decimated - all due to water pollution.
 
The grim reality is that this going to get worse before it gets better. Until these imbeciles get off the lazy bums, it will continue downhill. Money in municipalities and other organisations is being pumped into fat lunches and wasted on their hedonistic ways. We can only hope people vote for change and not the same old. This is a great country, which could be the best in the world. It needs leadership and men and women to stand up and crack the whip. Here's to hoping for a better future.
