Article: We will fix potholes: Peters

Good roads are the backbone of our economy, Transport Minister Dipuo Peters said on Monday.

"Transport remains the heartbeat of South Africa's economic growth and development," she said speaking at The New Age's business breakfast in Midrand.

The Peters idiot has yet to contact me about which roads I may travel upon. I'd hate for my tax contributions to be used to fix a pot hole in Mbizana.

We tried fixing potholes in our neighbourhood because the municipality would not, but then the municipality got upset and we had to stop :( Now people are forced to wait for the municipality, even though there are people willing to help for free.

Even in our Area we tried to fix potholes but DA councillor was against it.

You are a taxi driver that lives in a DA controlled ward? Which ward is that? :) You sure do spend a lot of time online for a taxi driver.

I'd love to see them fix Old Jhb road sections from Samrand to past Olifantsfontein, bit between Samrand & Centurioin/Old jhb/N1 onramp(theres MANY sections were the road disspears.. no lanes nada), Old Jhb - Lenchen Ave weird bends on which there is a long history of accidents etc. <-- apparently usual response is budget and to use the eToll road haha.

I wonder.. Someone should sue to have them/Gov pay eTolls while alternatives are not up to acceptable road use specifications which they are way way below according to many reports.

It's because he works in a DA ward. Things work so he can get his daily quota done with lots of time to spare.

Our economy should be build on an extensive nationwide rail infrastructure coupled with a reliable regular public transport system. The roads will continue to be destroyed by the trucking fraternity irrespective of how well they are made. Get the freight off the roads and onto the trains and you will see an immediate reduction in road fatalities.

Since 1994, the government has done a lot to upgrade the roads, railway, maritime and airport infrastructure.

Correction: Since 1994 the government has siphoned lots of funds from the fuel levy and misappropriated it. If you spend 100% of the fuel levy on the roads we will have world class roads everywhere. Unfortunately you only spend a fraction on it and we have African-class roads. Now you want us to pay for e-toll in addition because you misappropriated all of the fuel levy funds with the promise that you will repair the work? Well, there have been many promises from the ANC since 1994 and very few of them have seen the light of day.

Ive asked you before...

Please crawl back into the hole you came out of. Whilst you are there please also pull your bottom lip over your forehead and swallow.
