Article: WikiLeaks causes resignation

Chief State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley quit on Sunday after causing a stir by describing the U.S. military's treatment of the suspected WikiLeaks leaker as "ridiculous" and "stupid," pointed words that forced President Barack Obama to defend the detention as appropriate.

"Given the impact of my remarks, for which I take full responsibility, I have submitted my resignation" to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, according to a department statement attributed to the office of the spokesman. In a separate statement released simultaneously, Clinton said she had accepted the resignation "with regret."

And in typical media fashion, none of the news outlets focus on WHY he thinks their treatment was "ridiculous" and "stupid", but instead focus on what's going to happen to him cos he said this.

This has very little to do with Wikileaks and a lot to do with how an American citizen (yet to be charged with anything) is being inhumanely treated by his own government.

Obama isn't a great leader it seems. He's wavering in Libya and hasn't kept his election promises. Did anyone think he would show some backbone in the Wiki case?

Is wavering. Doesnt believe America should get involved.

I am surprised how little people know how American govt works, considering they have so much to say about America. It's not a dictatorship where one man/women decides what will happen. He has tried to implement what he promised, but he has no choice but to modify it to get it past Congress. This might sound odd to non-Americans, but that's the way they choose to govern themselves. About the only thing that ever gets the Congress and the Executive(President) to agree on anything is a direct threat to the country from the outside.

Btw, I believe he did get healthcare reform passed and has substantially reduced American force levels in Iraq and they are due to scale down Afghanistan as well. Not exactly what was proposed, but that is due to Congress, not him.

So he promised what he never could or would deliver, like Quantanimo closure.

The dumbass made a joke about hanging himself with the elastic waistband of his underwear or with his flip-flops. Clearly the guy is thick as a plank and unfortunately paying the price for it.

shouldn't make promises you know you can't keep. But hey if it gets you elected

No Healthcare was delegated to congressional dems. All Obama did, being "the great communicator", was drag his teleprompter around the country explaining it. He failed though to convince the people. As for Iraq the troop numbers were going to go down anyway with or without Obama.

While a majority of voters nationwide continue to favor repeal of the national health care law, those who have health insurance don’t think it’s very likely they will have to change their coverage.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Voters shows that 54% favor repeal of the law, including 44% who Strongly Favor repeal. Thirty-nine percent (39%) oppose repeal of the law, including 31% who are Strongly Opposed. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Last week, 53% favored repeal of the health care law. Support for repeal has ranged from a low of 50% to a high of 63% since Democrats in Congress passed it a year ago.

Really, I thought you would have married and had kids with Glenn Beck by now. Im pretty astonished you havent.

FOX News contributors Pat Caddell and Doug Schoen (a coauthor of Rasmussen) wrote that Rasmussen has an “unchallenged record for both integrity and accuracy.”[13] The Wall Street Journal stated that "Mr. Rasmussen is today's leading insurgent pollster" and "a key player in the contact sport of politics."[14]

Good to see Murdochs companies approve of that poll.

CBS poll at the time it was forced through congress...

Who cares if they do? The majority of South Africans approve of the death penalty, but that doesn't mean it should be implemented.

People are stupid, dude. They aren't going to support something that WILL cost them money but MIGHT save their ass. (Unless they braid their hair, avoid wearing shoes and weep when baby birds die.)

Yeah, stupid me, trusting one of the most trusted name in news:rolleyes:

Kinda shows you how kruddy your news is that someone one Comedy Central kicks their ass ;)

Thirty-nine percent believe the health plan that Obama signed into law last year is a good idea, versus another 39 percent who think it's a bad idea.
But those saying it's a good idea is at its highest level since September 2009, and those saying it's a bad idea is at its lowest level since June 2009.
The poll also finds that 46 percent of respondents are opposed to repeal (with 34 percent strongly opposed), while 45 percent support the repeal effort (with 35 percent strongly in favor).
The full NBC/WSJ poll, which will be released beginning at 6:30 pm ET, was conducted Jan. 13-17 of 1,000 adults (200 reached by cell phone), and it has a margin of error of plus-minus 3.1 percentage points.
