Article: Zuma slates UN Security Council

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) remains undemocratic, unrepresentative and unfair to developing nations and small states, President Jacob Zuma said on Tuesday.

Nearly 70 years after its establishment, the UNSC also still disenfranchised most of the member states of the United Nations, which formed the majority in the general assembly, Zuma said, according to an edited copy of his speech.
 
Zuma should just really shut up and answer for himself, in court, before he can assume some perceived higher ground anywhere.
 
He very possibly is correct...

But he has enough bullshyte under his own carpet to deal with, that he shouldn't be spouting off about other organisations.
 
I presume he means Africa should have a larger say. How about making the African Union more than a damp squid and then you can pretend to be able to offer something to the UN.

"We support all the diplomatic efforts aimed at finding a solution to this matter," he said.

"It is our strongly-held view that any political transition in Syria must come about as a result of the will of the Syrian people, and not as a result of a force of arms."

They tried that, Zuumbie. Assad didn't like it very much, which is why there's now a civil war.
 
Zuma talks the talk (not very well as he can barely read) but he should get his own house in order before he spouts off against the UN
 
Africa is largely living off handouts, is littered with corrupt leadership (like in SA) and expects to have a major say in world affairs?

Admittedly, things have improved across the continent over the last 2 decades, but its a long way off where it should be.

Today he is asking the states that have permanent membership on the UN council, the same ones he is scolding, to continue with their aid post 2015 to African states :rolleyes:

As for Zuma - it's embarrassing having him represent me at the UN.

Exactly, this and so many other comments above are correct. This man tries to take the higher ground, while he crooked and conned himself to power, stole another R 800-900 Million of taxpayers money for roads and upgrades to his private homestead. Under his leadership, the ruling party and the country are becoming ever more undemocratic. He allows his own party thugs to threaten and act top make certain areas, a province ungovernable for very shortsighted, self serving and shortterm gains.
He is so clueless, weak and spineless about the economy, that SA has now practically the lowest GDP growth of the continent, but he has still the temerity to beg rich nations to part 0.7% of their budget towards developing nations. Africa can pull itself out of poverty and misery, if it wants and elects real leaders.
Zoomer is a shocking embarrassment for this country and the continent.
