Article: Zuma speaks about corruption

A total of 2638 officials were found guilty of misconduct between September 2004 and August 31 this year, President Jacob Zuma said on Tuesday.

"At the provincial level, a total of 1728 officials were found guilty of misconduct related to corrupt activities while 910 officials were found guilty of misconduct for corrupt activities at national departments," Zuma told editors at a breakfast briefing in Pretoria.

And what about a presidential level shower head?

And what about a presidential level shower head?

That doesn't count silly!!! And FYI, he is not corrupt. He is just a lil selfish - wants to spend all the tax Rands by himself - afterall, he is the president and entitled to it

so these guys were the unfortunate "un-connected" ones, or part of the "other" factitions in the ANC.
What about the rest?? They only recovered R330m, while there is over R1bn wasted annually.
Is that R330m recovered to pay for his nkandla renovations??

So only 1.8 people per month are prosecuted for corruption in the entire country, throughout the entire public service. And only 22% of those found guilty of corruption within the public service are ever prosecuted. 22%!

And only 60% of those found guilty of misconduct are dismissed. These stats are nothing to be proud of...

When ever a president talks of achievements that extend outside of his own term I always raise an eyebrow to the stats. Why has zuma included 4-5 years of data outside his own term. Anyone got a link to the numbers?

And most are still employed - Zuma and his cronies are a joke!

Theft is theft dumbo!

It is a sad day when someone who has NO MORAL STANDING WHATSOEVER TO COMMENT ON CORRUPTION, speaks out about this in public.

Note the thread title is, "Zuma speaks about corruption" not "Zuma speaks out against corruption". As an expert in the field, he is entitled to speak about corruption.

The official figure given by the Auditor-General for " Fraud, corruption, wasteful and fruitless expenditure" is indeed R 30 Billion yearly, but I actually believe this is heavily under reported, more likely to be 5-10 X higher. on a total gov budget of around R 1160 billion. What is useful of spending about R30-40 Billion over the last decade or so on land distribution, when only 10% is actually used in a productive and sustainable way. With the present budget much more could be done, and even some tax relief could be considered like making more basic food items VAT exempt, and changing income tax entry from R 5000 to R 6000 PM, and reducing fuel levies to be more in line with surrounding countries, as only one third of fuel levies is actually used for roads.
