Hi guys. While I know that many of your readers are gamers and techno fundies why do you persist in publishing data regarding what power solutions are best for gamers and other such techno junkies when you have real world readers who have fridges, microwaves and security systems that need power? Having my TV and Xbox and game consuls working may be fun but it is hardly critical! Get real guys - real world solutions for real world problems

Cause 90% of the time fridges can handle 2 to 4 hours without power, your alarm you could look at getting a lithium battery for it, or you could plug it into the inverter you use to power your TV and Xbox. Microwaves would require a big inverter.
 
He's got a point though. My mother also asked me about backup power solution for her fridge.

Good idea for an article for MyBroadface.

Just tell her to open it as little as possible.

We had a 12 hour power outage in Dec and the Karens on WA were going on about the food in their freezers spoiling. When the outage stopped, I opened my freezer and everything was still 99% frozen. So either these Karens are causing the issues themselves (constantly opening their freezers to check on how frozen the food is) or their door seals are kaput or they are lying.

I would also still like to know what generator power or inveter/battery you need to run a domestic fridge for an hour or two.
Where I live in Radnburg we had two 3 day and on 4 day power outtage recently. The fridge need a boost after two days.

Yup I know see it on Twitter, when the outage goes over 4 hours suddenly it's who is going to pay for my spoiling food, it's like stop opening the door.

It is easy to decide to keep a freezer closed for the duration if it is a home freezer. It is a completely different story for a business, where the freezers will be opened many times over and maybe even open freezers.

Non inverter generators generally don't give clean sine wave, but it'll run fridges and such. My 2.8kva has done it numerous times in its 3 years, though not me personally though.

Had one of these aunties complaining once that "she is checking every 15 minutes to see if the food is still frozen, and it is defrosting". Pointed out that opening the door every 15 minutes would do that, but alas even then it did not sink in.

Ecoflow Delta. The Delta 2 is launching soon and will have >3,000 recharge cycles, current one has a 1.000 cycles.

Probably Ecoflow Delta and ideally Ecoflow Delta 2. Probably overkill but will work for the next 5-10 years for the Delta 2 variant.
 
So for those that want a total off-grid solution, measure the power drawn for a full week, find out what the peak load is and then see what it would cost you to install a backup system to handle that.

You might have to sell your house to pay off the loan.
