Ask a Penetration Tester Anything

Nice, I have done it and it was by far my favorite course I have ever done.
You are welcome to bounce ideas of me

I will definitely be in touch. I am busy with the Corelan exploit writing tutorials (tutorial 3) and SecurityTube's SLAE (SecurityTube Linux Assembly Expert) course.

this.

also, what are your thoughts on CISSP?

C.I.S.S.P has precious little to do with penetration testing.
However, if you plan on pursuing a career in information security and you don't have licence, then you're doing yourself a disservice.
The accreditation works best when you are a salty sec pro and wish to verify your professional history and capabilities in reference to infosec planning/management/architecture; though it really does depend on who does your endorsement. I'm particularly picky about endorsing people.

Where do I start.

Thanks for removing the info :)

As for where to start, I think it would be best if you contact me or one of the other admins in the #offsec IRC channel and I will gladly give you some tips/hints.

I use this forum in my personal capacity, so would prefer to do that via one of our channels/forums.

chill fam, i'm straight outta' High School

Yes, I am aware.
Typically I'm not one for explaining myself, or even for pointing out where other people have failed, but here it is:

If someone goes to the effort of registering to reply to a question you have, you might do them the solid, of replying with something other than a monosyllabic grunt.

You were interested in training and certifications in order to get a decent job no?

I responded the way I did to see if you could step up and have a conversation, because I am on the hunt for someone interested in learning in order to groom them into an analyst role.

You don't fit the bill in'nt, bruv.

has anyone done the OSCP course with no python/perl/ruby/bash scripting knowledge?

You will need at least some scripting knowledge, even if it's just some bash scripting basics.
It's easy to learn and if you are already familiar with Linux commands you'll pick it up in no time.

Python basics also won't take that long to learn, use a site like https://www.codecademy.com/ and you should be fine.
