Hi there

We would like to start an “Ask MyBroadband” feature in this forum to give you the opportunity to share your knowledge and help others. The questions will be aimed at tech-savvy people providing feedback about common questions which consumers may have.

It will be really great if you can share your knowledge in these “Ask MyBroadband” threads.

Your feedback is most welcome as usual.

I assume that Mybroadband will be asking the questions on behalf of the consumers right? If not, how is this any different to a normal thread?

I don't have an issue with this, however, the question posed "How is this any different from normal threads asking questions" is quite valid

THis ^^

What I find EXTREMELY helpful - is where a forumite with extensive knowledge in an area posts the ins and outs of the topic, followed by the Qand A.

Example http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/186156-Understanding-SNR-and-Attenuation-Rates

And I have noted that its not all tech savy stuff either - often, LRA issues come up, motoring issues, home improvement issues ...... swingers clubs issues ..:erm:...

Questions as a sub group becomes a plethora of groups based on the topic being questioned .... I am not sure how you would structure this?

I have a question.

Why does the search function suck so bad? When I run a normal search, it spews out results in no particular order, for threads started 10 years ago. Is there no way to sort the search results?

Dear Thabo, I mean, MyBroadband

Whats the point of the deals button if you post a weekly deals thread?

Blame vBulletin, I just let the Google robotos do my work, do a Google search with site:mybroadband.co.za insert query here and then use the search tools to narrow it down.

EDIT: New version of vBulletin seems to have better search functionality.

Not sure what version MyBB is running.

Schweet. Will this QnA subforum be more heavily moderated to maintain quality? All you need is for one poephol to go in there and post a thread like "Which is better: pc or console" and you'll have a fight.

This is primarily a tech forum, which by it's very nature has those kinds of threads as part of it's DNA. I don't quite understand what you're trying to do - because it sounds like you want to create a dedicated section for what's basically the entire forum outside of Off-Topic Discussions?

Think we need more details before we can really comment on whether it's a good idea or not. As mentioned before it's already been done in some way.

Yahoo Answers has more of an international presence thanks to its mail box.
Asking questions in the South African context would be good but I think that the service would be under utilized.
Ask MyBB would cause less traffic on the forum though...

@rpm: Could you provide more details please?

I like this, and will be happy to contribute.

So, I'm going to bump this and ask when this will be implemented. Also, another question, how will programming questions work?
