Aspartame

The reason why Coke Light/Zero is not such a good substitute for normal Coke.

in fact many "low sugar" products have Aspartame in them.

but like everything in life, take it in moderation, a tot of whiskey a day wont kill you, just don't do half a bottle every evening

Does whiskey have aspartame in it?

I tried some Stevia recently. It has a similar taste to whatever they put in Coke zero or light. Maybe i put too much in :p

Anyways, I've gone off sugar this year and gone off cool drink for a few years now. I would rather things taste not so good but be safe than to have them taste "nice" but be bad for me. Call me paranoid.

Artificial sweetener is in everything these days, that sucks!

The only thing i cannot live without is chocolate :) Don't know if i can ever go off that!

Aspartame is safe as long as you are not consuming huge quantities.

Aaahhh....aspartame! Save us were all going to die!

Everything is bad for you if you have too much of it. Its not like your going to be consuming kilograms of the stuff every day.

The Aspartame controversy
source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspartame_controversy

-------------
The primary source for exposure to aspartame in the United States is diet soft drinks, though it can be consumed in other products such as pharmaceutical preparations, fruit drinks, and chewing gum among others in smaller quantities.

A 12 ounce can of diet soda contains 180 mg of aspartame, and for a 75 kilograms (165 lb) adult, it takes approximately 21 cans of diet soda, per day, to consume the 3,750 mg of aspartame that would surpass the FDA's 50 milligrams per kilogram of bodyweight ADI of aspartame from diet soda alone.
----------------

There's probably more poison in the air you breath daily than your occasional intake of aspartame.

Everything on this planet is becoming contaminated by the chemicals we (home and industry) use,
it's all a part of growing up and growing strong.

People who are ultra sensitive and have weak immune systems should take more care what they eat, breath
and generally expose themselves too.

Do you think that the deodorant you smear or spray onto your skin daily is benevolent to your body ?

If you looked into how this got released to the public you could answer your own question.
Some disastrous approvals of drugs shows that errors can be made. These same organisations can also wrongly deny approval. Whether or not errors were made originally that is not why it remains available today.
