Aspire One Rescue

Long story short, I'm not proficient with Windows, so bear with me.

Got myself an Aspire One a few months back, installed eeeBuntu on it which wiped the mbr, no biggie except that eeBuntu is horribly broken atm.
I want to install the original XP again and some of the free apps that came with again, but it seems impossible to do this with the mbr wiped. Acer wants me to return the laptop so they can probably rewrite the image to disk. I asked the if they could supply me with the files necessary to restore the mbr but they refuse to help me.

I can get XP on a usb flash drive and install it, no problem, but I would have loved to especially have Works 9 recovered from the rescue partition.

Can one do this, restoring the D2D recovery mbr? Or how would I go about extracting only Works 9 from the rescue partition. Do not ask why I need it, our company has been using Works db for years and that is the sole reason I would like to have it installed again.

Or alternatively, can I install Works 9 from someone else who has the CD's since I already have a license to it, I think... not sure if this will be legal.

Hope this all makes sense, shout if you need more info.

And why should I waste R500-00 when it sits here right in front of me.
