Hi all,

Does anyone know of freeware for managing assets?

Managing our company’s mobile phones like upgrading, sending for repairs, etc. is part of my job and I would like know if there are any available freeware out there that I can use to track everything including the history of the mobile phones.

I’ve made a few attempts at writing my own software for this purpose and it helped, but my limited knowledge of programming left me with a list of features that I would really like to incorporate but don’t know how.

Please help.

When you need help with Config Management let me know ;)

If you had budget i would have suggested something from Mobile Reach

Cool, will keep you in mind.

There is no budget for this because I can't justify spending money on something this small. I just need some form of asset management that will make my life a little bit easier.

But thanks anyway. :)

Depends on the scope, my good friend. I never give out ball-park figures for development work. Also, I build the app to spec and never deviate. Scope-creep is the most evil thing ever...

Thanks but like I said, I don't think I'll be able to justify paying for an application to manage such a small task. I'm looking for freeware and if I don't find any then I'll most probably make another attempt at developing a better application myself.

What are you currently using?

Thanks man, I'll definitely keep you in mind. :D

Well, currently I'm using my own VB application with an Access database.

Whats your numbers like, how many phones, how regularly do you update it?
Do you have an audit option for a variance report?

We have about 70 company phones and I update it whenever I need to which might be a few times per day or only once a month. There are no reporting features whatsoever.
