We are looking at installing a new PABX at on of our properties and before I go any further I need to find out if Asterisk produces some sort of output with data that can be used by a telephone management system.

We need to be able to automatically bar/unbar extensions as well as the possibility of 'wakeup calls'.

Anyone with info?

Asterisk produces output in a csv format log
of all calls and their duration, dialled numbers
look in the /var/log/asterisk directory.

This can be used by a variety of programs for analysing your
customer center call agents etc etc

Download the vmware iso of www.trixbox.org and also download
the free VWware player to install a full copy of the Asterisk PBX software

Can someone give a quick very high level step by step of what I'd need to setup an asterisk/trixbox at home.

I'd love having a SIP and Telkom line coming in, with 3 extensions.

What hardware is necessary?
Can normal phones be used?

Thanks!

Gromitt,
If this is for a Lodge/hotel I would definitely recommend using a well know vendor. Sure open source is nice but you will have a problem with support etc. Plus you are going to need a complete new cable layout to each and every room. On the TMS I would strongly recommend you use it for a couple of months as it needs to automatically upgrade with our local call rates.
Further more, there is great complete hospitality solutions from certain vendors that will solve all your hassles as well as give you peacefull nights.
