ASUS Eee Pad transformer

Guys I need some help please.
I'm trying to view folders on my TF from my laptop (connected wirelessly to same network as TF).
I installed ES File Explorer and after battling for a while I managed to set up a connection (I hope). Only problem is I keep getting the errors:
Login Failure caused by:
- Wifi is off (it's not)
- SMB server is out of scope (???huh dunno what that is :) )
IP is inalid (don't think so)
-blocked by firewall (firewall is off)
-SMB service is off (???)

I'm using XP by the way..

thanks peeps for any advice

Can you ping the PC from the tablet or the tablet from the PC? (Android terminal emulator from the market can help with this test)
https://market.android.com/details?id=jackpal.androidterm

Also can I suggest installing File Manager HD. It allows you to join domains maybe that can help.

Welcome, I guess you using user based sharing. So need to be part of the workgroup/domain to be able to log in.

Just wish there was a paid for FM HD.... I would pay to get rid of ad's but people can make more money on add versions than selling once off products so I dont blame him :)

I was actually shocked just now when I went to Asus support site to download PC client to find that they even have the Kernel Source code available for download..... time to go install Samba so I can share my tablet over a windows network

I have no clue wth asus mounted it as I can't even find it in the console... they hardcoded it in their file manager.... will let you know how if I find out, I will probably have to root to find it.

Oh and there is donation version you unlock it via PayPal in the settings menu.

Charging

Hi

To all transformer owners : can you charge the device via the usb cable connected to a computer?? I just got an eee pad from overseas so the AC adapter plug is an asian one. Can I charge the tablet from my PC? Or would i have to get a travel converter plug?

Thanks

Yes it does charge via USB if the screen is off best is to turn the tablet off to charge.

Apparently it charges really slowly from USB and only if the TF Is shutdown. I would recommend you get the converter.

Ok i've plugged it in and turned it off completely. Should there be any charging indicator on the screen?

No that is the bad part of doing it that way. Asus forgot to add a charge LED.

At least you will be able to buy a USB to power plug tomorrow as all iPod and HTC phones use the same setup.

I noticed there is a button you click which allows you to donate to FM HD via paypal and that will remove the ads. Think it was around $2.49ish....

-On another note, FNB called me today regarding 'strange' activity on my credit card because I bought an app via the app store. Good to know they keep an eye on these things.

Don't you get SMS notifications of all transactions on your card?

Yeah I saw the purchase, buy you need to install the developers PayPal app in order to do this.... dont think I trust that part of it as the developer's website does look very unprofessional, so I will wait a bit before I do.

Yeah that does sound dodgy...

irt FNB, you only get an sms if the amount is R100 or more, most apps are less so no sms.

Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I feel the idiot!!

I bought Splashtop Remote.... only to find out now that its included into the ASUS MyCloud app for free :(

Ok...

1. I didn't waist money at least, I bought the HD version that allows me to run my Desktop at 1920x1080 as well as stream games and movies, The free version resize your desktop to the tablet's resolution (1280x800) or less depending on your settings.

2. Checked now on my second Transformer all you need to do is install.
http://www.splashtop.com/remote/download and set up password and settings
then on the tablet click on MyCloud, inside the app, middle left (My Desktop) you can select Scan for all devices or add it manually.
You will then be able to connect and control your PC desktop from the tablet.

Also, the free version only allows you to connect for 5miin at a time. You need the paid version to stay logged in. For now the free version with its limitations works fine for me but can see myself spending the $5 for the full version soon.

The MyCloud one doesn't disconnect so you must be talking about the free one from the app store?

There us 4 versions
Free on Android market
Paid for on Android Market
HD Paid on Android Market
Free in Mycloud = Paid Android market one

Hmm. Now I'm nor sure, it automatically installed on my PC when i setup the Asus software and
then a message popped up saying I needed to download the app from the market for my device. Just chose the free one.

How do you get the free mycloud one?

/me goes off to look...

OK, I see now. If you open mycloud and go though. That it has a splashtop version built in. Will keep using the app as I don't need more than 5min at a time for now and when I need more I will get the HD app.

Uninstall the android app all you needed was the client that I linked.
