ASUS Eee Pad transformer

Just some intresting but Useless information:

I was bored and well curious and decided to buy Fruit Ninja THD for my Android tablet, well I already own Fruit Ninja HD on iOS and wanted to see how it compares to the iPad version.

Man what a difference, the Android version kicks the iPad's @ss. The fruit is more rounded and not as blocky, also the splash you see when cutting the fruit looks a hell of a lot better on Android. Now that was something that I didn't expect esp seeing that mostly tell people to get a iPad if they into games.

Goes to show, we actually have hardware for games, we only lack the developers to put in some effort into the platform.

I've also been jamming the THD Fruit Ninja, very nice for 20 bucks, I like how you can put 10 fingers on the screen for multiple slicing

I can kick Gordon Ramsay's a$$ with the skills I learnt from Fruit Ninja

another great one I think is Cut the Rope! very clever physics games that includes (but not limited too :P) dangling candy from ropes and dodging spiders while trying to get the frog to eat the candy

very nice for 6 bucks.

I so want one :(
Also what would one advise for mobile? Could you tether to your Blackberry?
For e books say you download a pdf book, what would you use to read it ?
When are the 3g units coming?

I use my HTC Desire to tether my TF so if your BB can tether then yeh it's all good

There are many apps that can view PDF, it certainly comes with one, not sure which one though, it also comes with Alice in Wonderland which you can read as you start your new TF, however at first, it's more fun to turn the pages than to actually read the words.
It also comes preloaded with a full version Polaris which can create, edit & delete office documents.
I'm sure there are a lot more apps you could get that does the same thing.

When are the 3g units coming?
In SA? maybe October to guess optimistically? hopefully sooner, then mobile isp's will be jumping on these like popes on little deaf boys.

Probably will only see it in SA October/November as for E books/PDF I use a free program called Calibre that you can get http://calibre-ebook.com/about to convert all my E media to ePub format, be it Kindle or PDF's or whatever format.

The Asus MyLibrary app that is preloaded on the Eee can read ePub's its also the default format used for Apple and other Android Phones.

The bonus of this is that you have a central place that you can use to manage your books as well as a cool app that that can be used to sync your books up to your readers.

I see the Slider is ready to ship, this August both in UK and USA, lets hope this goes for the 3G Transformers as well.

http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/25/asus-eee-pad-sl101-slides-through-the-fcc-still-misses-promised/

Sure, it's not unusual for gadgets to miss their shipping targets, suffering months-long delays as they jump through the varies hoops necessary before a release. Fortunately, ASUS can now check FCC approval off the Eee Pad Slider's to do list, with the Honeycomb QWERTY tablet receiving a green light from the feds late last week. ASUS has already confirmed August availability in the UK (after previously promising a May ship date), so we can only hope that the same timeframe applies stateside as well. We're also curious to see whether or not ASUS was able to use this unexpected delay to beef up supplies, so the Slide doesn't suffer a hangup similar to that of its Transformer cousin. The company has yet to confirm Slider pricing in the U.S., though we imagine those details will be revealed along with a shipping date within the next few weeks.

does anyone know where I can get a decent generic stand for my TF -will make watching movies so much better

Do any stores have stock of the dock at the moment? I am working out the country but will be back for a few days shortly and would like to pick one up.

Edit: Seems as if new stock is arriving end of next week

Looks like we getting 3.2 Tomorrow

http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/27/...rmer-will-get-android-3-2-update-to/#bXpulseX

No leaks this time around, but Eee Pad Transformer users don't have to wait much longer to get their Android 3.2 fix. ASUS has now confirmed that the update will be rolling out tomorrow, July 28th. Unlike Galaxy Tab 10.1 owners, Transformer users shouldn't expect too many surprises in store here considering ASUS is sticking with stock Honeycomb, although there will hopefully be a few fixes included in addition to the more general Android updates.

Has anyone tried the HDMI out on their transformer yet. I bought a HDMI -> HDMI mini converter from Ellies and used an Ellies HDMI cable which I know works with my PS3. Problem is I plug everything in and nothing happens. No icons are prompted on the transformer and the TV screen remains black. I have a Sony Bravia 40" FHD LCD so I don't think the problem would be there?

I tried googling it and there are mixed responses on the internet. Some people are saying it is the TV and others are saying its the HDMI cable. Anyone got any ideas?

I've got a mini HDMI - HDMI and the TF works fine connected to my projector as well as my 24" LCD although I'm not sure if the videos are playing at full HD and I'm not sure where or if I can set anything.

I did plug it into a DVI screen and nothing happened but then I remembered that the DVI - HDMI adapter I had didn't fit my screen and I had to literally pull out some of the connections with a long nose pliers, I felt I had nothing to lose as I got it specifically for the screen, it seemed to work 100% with my laptop but not with the TF.

On another note, I bought an awesome black xbox 360 controller for PC that comes with a wireless USB adapter, only 400 bucks.
The first time I plugged the USB adapter into my TF the controller actually worked, however, every time I plugged it in after that it forces my TF to reset but while the USB adapter is plugged in my TF stays on loading screen untill I unplug it? Interesting stuff.

I'm so glad I don't have to wait for Vodacom or Leaf for these updates, only Asus this time :)

40" Samsung HDMI works fine, I suspect its something to do with Sony. I remember having issues some time ago with my Laptop and a friends Sony TV some time ago when I booted into Linux, Vista back then worked but only after SP1.
