ASUS Eee Pad transformer

Quick question, I assume that the transformer has a micro usb port on the main tablet? As is normal with all android devices.

You would be wrong.

On the tablet it has a connector that it uses for docking, 1 x mini HDMI and 1 x 3.5 earphone jack. the charge cable that plugs into the docking connector is USB and can be used to plug into a pc or power plug for charging.

Also waiting for Them connectors: http://www.netbookreviews.net/asus/eee-transformer-accessories/

Apparently the new adapters are now available from the Asus store. Not exactly cheap though:

Doing some research for a friend, iconia vs eee pad.

So how do you get data onto the tab, wifi + sd?

What about debugging?

Sent from my HTC Desire using MyBroadband Android App

Like I said the charge/docking cable is USB on the other side and can be plugged into the PC.

In stead of the transformer the cable can be used on a PC for data and when screen saver is active for charging.

Managed to get my dock bar transparent. (ADW ex)

For anybody else wanting to do this> go to the theme setting > set the hidden dock theme to none.

They been available from Amazon for some time now, I was referring to getting them from ASUS here in ZA :(

For all you folks looking for a second or replacement charger for your Asus Transformer - i managed to source one from the Asus store in Johannesburg - they are located in Sandton City - That came as a huge surprise :)

Anyway - their service is excellent - i called in saying i needed a charger - they confirmed they had one for me at a cost under R300 - (charger with USB Cable with proprietary connector). Managed to get my brother to buy it for me and ship it to me to Cape Town. Quick and easy.

what app u guys using t oview .tif files. I get a number of faxes in my email but Polaris and Quickoffice can't open them

hmmm...

wonder if the TF is a likely candidate for a Windows 8 hack?

Well I had Ubuntu on mine for a week before returning to Android, only issue is Atom = x86 where Tegra = Arm.

I have seen that Kail-el kick Core2Duo T7200 in the face in benchmarks so would be interesting to see next generation tablets.

Had a look at one at Look & Listen.... weighs a ton in comparison to the Samsung, but feels like a better build - it was also snappier than the Galaxy changing screens, etc.

It is even better when you update it to 3.2 or use a custom launcher. (I understand that the demo units dont run latest version?) As for Build I would have preferred a aluminum finish, but I guess it would have increased the weight of the unit.

The increased size also does make sense only if you use it with the keyboard dock. If you not going to get the keyboard with the tablet I would advise going for something smaller.

I'll probably get the keyboard, as it comes in at the same price as the Samsung Galaxy tab then...

Yeah it becomes really snappy with 3.2!

See, this is my dilemma. I like the transformer, but I'm actually not interested in the keyboard at all - I'd only get it so that I have a usb port available. But if I get the keyboard as well, I might as well (price-wise) for for the iconia... except that the iconia is heavier (but probably not when you include the keyboard weight), and doesn't have as good a screen. I'm trying to weigh up the pros and cons:

Iconia:
- screen not as good
- heavier
+ has usb port

Transformer alone:
+ good screen
+ lighter
- no usb port (so no charging other devices; no usb drive file transfer; no using my phone as a 3G modem)
+ cheaper

Tranformer and Keyboard:
- heavier
- thicker
+ usb port
+ adds to battery life
(+ has physical keyboard, but I'm not really bothered by not having it)

I don't know what to dooo!
