Asus HD 5450 ATI chip support Linux Mint/Ubuntu

I have already gone back.to open source driver. Did not solve tje problem. Will have to install catalyst again tomorrow. I only have one display though? Will it enable me to.select second display even though only one is connected? I am so.confused. :-( i.will try this tomorrow. Heading out.for dinner and movie now. Sorry about bad typing. Posting from my ohone While.getting ready

No problem re: bad typing - have seen worse ;)

I do believe you must have second display connected & detected before you can enable multi-display. Don't have second screen to try right now-sorry, maybe tomorrow...

The open source driver also supports multiple displays but is a little more difficult to set up(imho).

If it's the same as nvidia then I would say no. If there's no display connected/detected you can't configure one.

I think that tutorial is for when you have a PC monitor and TV connected, so just ignore the second monitor stuff and apply it to your current monitor if you do not have your TV hooked up to the server.

But i.only have my tv connected via hdmi...i dont have a monitor at home. :-( . I dont know what to do. I am not.clued up enough to fix this :-( going to bed. Maybe tomorrow.will be a better day.

Got working . Installed linux mint 14 which detected my ati card in sound settings unlike ubuntu. Then i did this

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

becomes

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash radeon.audio=1"

now save the file and run update-grub

Reboot and have working sound via hdmi :-)

Good.grief. i.am so.relieved now :-)
