Asus launches Eee box

No Linux? WTH? Why, why, why XP Home? XP Pro would have been a much better option, but using Linux on the EEE PC would have dropped the price by ~R400. It will run a lot faster too.

Look like there is a Linux version:

There’ll also be the choice of Linux or Windows XP pre-installed, and some versions will have Bluetooth built in too.

Well the portability issue refers mainly to the EEE pc. But what really stops anyone from using the EEE box as the backup pc on the network?

This has an advantage over an external hard drive in that it is not much bigger and is a fully fledged pc.

Oh, and it looks cooler and probably uses less power as well.
